With 189 bedrooms and 9 restaurants and lounges over 34 storeys, The Rosewood in Abu Dhabi is a state of the art, ultra luxurious 5 star hotel that stands proud on the City’s ‘Al Maryah Island’. Conveniently situated next to swanky ‘Zuma’ Restaurant, the hotel is also linked by elevator to the world class ‘The Galleria’, a shopping and dining precinct that houses 145 of the world’s top luxury fashion brands.
Determined to do very little whilst I was on holiday, I really made use of it’s facilities, which are truly impressive. The pool is beautifully designed, with its Palm tree islands and cheery staff who bring you suncreen, fresh fruit and cold water throughout the day. They’ll even offer to clean your sunglasses for you as you luxuriate like a Roman. The gym is spacious and is decked out with very high quality equipment, ice cold fruit juices on tap, cold flannels, and has a stunning panoramic view of the city. Next door, the spa offers all you could imagine in deeply relaxing surroundings, and the white marble steam room is one of the best I’ve encountered anywhere.
The bedrooms are all spacious, and well designed with gorgeous two-sink bathrooms containing massive baths and futuristic perspex power shower cubicles filled with Roberto Cavalli products. Lying in the massive bath whilst looking out over the city became one of my favourite evening pursuits. Each evening, gifts were delivered to the room-cakes, fresh fruit, baklava, chocolate truffles. It was a lovely touch, and was one of the things that set this place apart from other 5 star hotels. The level of service here was really top class. Friendly staff knew your name immediately after arrival, and no request was declined. I was particularly taken aback with the ‘Manor Club’, a sort of executive lounge for those who have opted for this when booking their stay. Guests can choose whether to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant, or in the Manor Club, a smaller, more intimate lounge. Every day, complementary afternoon tea is served-sandwiches, cakes, scones with real clotted cream, teas, juices, whatever your heart desires. Another extraordinary feast appears at 6.30pm every evening, with hot tapas style food, and cocktails, served until 9pm, and at no charge. Again, here the staff were hugely accommodating and charming, making a real effort to get to know their guests.
Whether you’re in the Middle East for business, or you just need a dose of sun, the Rosewood Abu Dhabi is an astonishing hotel of true luxury, and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. If you’re used to the finer things in life, this really is the place for you.
