Nestled in the heart of historic Petworth amongst it’s famous antique treasure troves, the Leconfield is invigorated by the arrival of London Chef Paul Welburn, who artfully uses local, seasonal produce to create British fayre with an exciting twist. Gin and tonic cured chalk stream trout with dill, fennel and treacle was complex and divine, and the hot pear pudding with vanilla yoghurt and iced pear rocked our world.
Banquet like a King in the Tudor private dining room, and try the tantalising tasting menu, or take in some fresh air in the pretty courtyard garden and rub shoulders with the likes of Bryan Ferry and Maggie Smith, both spotted in this foodies paradise.
The Hungry Guest, a cornucopia of delicious organic produce (think Daylesford) is under the same ownership as the Leconfield and sits just next door. A foodies paradise, this smart shop is full of fresh, delicious produce from all over the County.
